Volunteer dog walks, 18+

Déierenasyl, Gasperich – walk a shelter dog

What it offers

Luxembourg's national animal shelter in Gasperich lends its dogs to volunteer walkers. Adults from 18 come in with ID, do a short introduction session (Saturdays at 13:30) and get a walker's card valid for the calendar year. Walks are Monday to Saturday afternoons, never on Sundays or public holidays.

Practical details

  • How it works: turn up during walking hours. You can’t reserve a particular dog in advance, and on busy Saturdays there may not be a dog free for everyone.
  • First visit: register at reception with an ID card or passport and do the short introduction, held every Saturday at 13:30. Your walker’s card is then valid for the rest of the calendar year and can be renewed without redoing the session.
  • The main rules: adults only (18+), and children never hold the lead. Keep the dog on its lead the whole time, with no extending leads. Don’t let it meet other dogs. No cafés, terraces or playgrounds. Pick up after it (bags are provided). Report any incident when you bring the dog back.
  • Runs the shelter: the Lëtzebuerger Déiereschutzliga asbl.
